An MRI showed I have a partially torn peroneus brevis tendon tear. I just want to hear other's experiences dealing with it and when did the pain go away?

They put me in a hard cast to see if that helps first, if not surgery. Is that what you did?

No, I didn't have a cast first. I had a pretty bad fall and 3 docs said it was just a sprain. Thats why it was so long to find. The last doc finally did a MRI and there it was. Its always tricky to do the surgery but I was in so much pain and almost a yr later had the surgery. Sadly nothing has helped which could just be me but no one will answer the questions for me. I have given up and living with the pain now.

I had a severely torn tendon and avulsion fracture post hip surgery. I know it's a different site and I needed surgery which my surgeon refused due to the massive amount of pain I had post op. As tendons have relatively poor blood supply, they take a long time to heal. I still have pain unfortunately. But function wise, its sort of ok. Sorry for bad news.

My tendon eventually healed. It took over 3 years but my tear was severe... almost detached. A second opinion 3 years later told me the orginal surgeon, should have done a pin ans screw which is why it took so long to heal. The bone broke when the tendon broke. 😢
