To those that had a hydrocelectomy, how long did it take for swelling to go down?

[age 29] I had the op on 5/28. Bruising went away some but the overall size matches that of the hydrocele before I had it done. Took all of my prescribed antibiotics, and have been back/forth relying on ibuprofen and ice pack especially around incision area.

I just wanted to know how long it was before swelling went away post op. I've heard up to 6 months but I hope it's not that long.

Thanks for any info!

[age 30] I had mine done 1/15/20 (along with a vasectomy), and mine was about the size of an avocado. It was swollen to that size after surgery as well, which was alarming, haha. It took a good 1-2 weeks to start to go down, and 3-4 weeks for the swelling to go down fully. After that went down (about a month or so), it was about the size of an egg, and I'm left with a hard hematocele in there from the trauma of the surgery, which the doctor said is very common, and can take 6 months to a year to fully absorb back into the body, and may never fully dissolve. It's a little smaller than an egg now, and still seems to be getting softer and smaller as the weeks go by.

    Hi Mark

I had my op 8 weeks ago and at the 4 week post op appointment the right testicle was now 2-3 times bigger than before the op. So he put me back in for another op last week. Swelling is gone but in its place my testicle is lodge hard up in the right hand corner of my scrotum and 2/3s the testicle surface has scrotum fused to it My scrotum skin where the cut was is noe thick, hard and lumpy. I now look lop sided.

I now wish I did not have the operations at all. My right testicle was only 50% bigger before the ops. Good luck.
