Today, I mentioned my "night-time-leg-jerking" pro

Today, I mentioned my "night-time-leg-jerking" problem to people at work and someone piped up, "You have restless legs syndrome"! I had never heard of RLS until today. My RLS is sporadic, but always happens when I am asleep. Quite often, I know nothing about it, but my husband tells me next day that I have kept him awake most of the night with my "stretching/jumping/fidgeting". Sometimes, I wake up whilst this is occurring and have never been able to describe the feelings/sensations in my legs, nor the uncontrollable urge to move them or constantly stretch them. I drink de-caf coffee, don't drink alcohol and do not feel at all "stressed", so I guess that rules those "antagonists" out. I will be keeping a check on myself to try to ascertain how often this happens and may seek medical attention. Despite reading reams on the internet tonight, I am still considerably worried about this condition.

I am 48 yrs old and i was dianoised with RLS roughly 5 years ago after suffering the symtoms for years earlier but not knowing what it was, it was affecting me at night and day and there were times when i had little or no sleep at all for days, eventuraly my Dr sent me to London Neuro surgery and Neurology Hospital where tests revealed RLS, i am now on a tablet called cabaser(cabergoline)of which i take at night and can honestly say its a godsend

I could have written that!! I was beginning to think my boyfriend was exaggerating my night time "work outs"! All i know is that i wake up really tired, looking like i've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Having read this i'll try to up my iron levels (i do verge on anaemic)and keep an eye on it.

there are several clubs on Yahoo that this is all it's about

a lot of good in formation to be had and lots of insight. earthgirlsRLS is one group and there are several more. the main problem is that Dr.'s don't know that much about the RLS drugs or what or where it comes from. Requip is a short fix / I take mariapex and have for 3yrs it keeps control of my RLS the best but I have to go up and down on the dose. good luck
