Today is last day of PT

Posted , 3 users are following.

Greetings all,

So today is my last scheduled PT appt as per Dr's orders. I suppose it makes sense because for a few weeks now, I have felt as though I was making wee bits of progress (3 steps forward, 1 back). SMH. My anxiety is creeping back up.

So, for those of you who are literally further down the road, what advice/tips do you have for me, going forward? Am 4 months post ORIF. Almost 67 y.o.

Thanks a million. This forum has been like a life line for me !!!- Di

    Good Afternoon

    I am 67!!!

I had never broken anything in my life so breaking my ankle back in July was a real eye opener

I'm in my 3rd week of PT and I know how you are feeling

    Im making pretty good progress

No more crutches, walking in sneakers at home (still use boot when I go out)

My advice would be to make sure you continue with exercises you have learned at PT

Especially stretching your foot out with the bands

    It gives me good ROM

I also was thrilled to find this site

I thought I was the only person feeling the way I did during recovery

My friends were great but just kept saying "you'll be walking before you know it"

I know they meant well but unless you are stuck in the house day after day and just going to the bathroom is an effort no one can appreciate it unless you go through it

I wish you the best! my therapist at PT said this recovery can take up to 6 months

I feel like Im making progress but somedays I also feel like this journey will never end!!!

    LOL!

    Take Care

you will have to continue with your exercises. 4mths of recovery is nothing. your physical therapy must continue so the ankle will continue to get stronger. continue with the toe rises and if you can do a little walking from time to time. i'm two years broken ankle in 3 places, 7 screws, 2 plates and dislocation snd 50 yrs old. feel like my old self again but i continue to exercise
