Todays confusion...Clob

Sorry ladies....everyday I have a new question. What am I using clob for? I should only be using minimum dosage just once a day, it doesn't prevent fusing and it will not bring my color back...what does it do? I am still so confused. Sorry!!

You are using it to heal any open areas and get it under control. I have had cellulitis three times that could be linked to those open areas.

It works on the inflammation in the deepest layer of the skin to keep it from flaring up in various ways. It's not a cure, but things can get way out of control without it. I find if I do tear these days, it's very shallow, not bloody and it heals smooth in a day or so. It stops the rawness and itching. Some of my worst fusing (before diagnosis and treatment) happened because I had a bad flare and the raw, sticky skin 'stuck' together – healed together.

I might have ls no confirmation on it for sure. I do have dryness in the vulva area, does the clobetasol help at all with moisture problems? I do have confirmed vaginal atrophy, only symptoms that bother me are on the vulva. I try vaseline, hydrocortisone 1 percent over the counter, vit e oil from a gel capsile, seems like i either get irritated or it helps for a little while then i feel dry very uncomfotable as far as underwear etc. Any ideas for moisteiseing,i currently dont use clobetasol.

I'm very happy with my mixture of a few drops of frankincense essential oil in a 25 ml dropper bottle of jojba oil. I believe it has helped un-adhere pleats in my perineum and I never have that dry, itchy feeling.

Does thefrankencense have a fragrance that would be an issue? I am very interested in finding something natural to use. Lastly thinking about emuaid. I have pure emu oil I bought some months ago. Always afraid of a reaction.I have read that frankincense has healing properties. Can you elaborate? Thx so much. BTW, I have never used any topical steroid, either. Hope I don't regret that!

Don't stop using the clob unless it is causing you more irritation.  THings can get worse very quickly with this and the Clob (Dermovate over here in the UK) definitely should help slow down the progression. Are you using the cream or the ointment? For me this makes a huge difference as the cream is relatively useless, but some folk actually prefer the cream.

It has its own smell, but it doesn't persist. All I know is it's traditionally used for skin problems.

As far as not using steroid ointment, I've had LS for 40 years and only got a diagnosis and prescription two years ago. I think I have the least severe type.

Thanks, I was only concerned about fragrance that I would have a reaction to. I was also concerned about never having used a steroid, because some doctors say it is a must, and will not see you if you Do not use it.

After 18 months on Dermovate my gynae wasn't satisfied with my progress and switched me to Protopic (tacrolimus). It's such a tiny dose... I'm quite happy with the results. I use a tiny bit every third night – by Day 3 I start to feel slight symptoms. It's fine if you suffer no disfigurement while using nothing. In my ignorance I did it for decades.

I have been very fortunate. I was diagnosed in November and freaked out. My only symptom is the white peri area. I used clobetasol once a day for six weeks, and am now down to every other day. My skin is beginning to turn pink again. This is a strange and terrifying disease...but manageable for me and this site is so very helpful. Good luck with your treatment!
