Toilet needs

Okay, this one is a awkward one for me.

So, for about 3 months now I've been suffering from some problems that keep occuring once every few days.

When i go to the toilet, My back passage is rather sore (Sometimes making me scream in pain) and will, pardon the way i put this, throb for atleast an hour later.

I have told my doctor but they dont think there is anything really of concern, saying its just what i eat and should try to eat other things....

Well, i have a bad case of no appetite most of the time so not much actually goes through my system.

Secondly when i didnt have this appetite problem, i was still feeling the same.

I just cant understand what it could be and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it and maybe have some advice?

    Hi Rachel,

I sometimes have the same problem. I think my area there is very sensitive and then when I eat something such as corn or someting else hard it gets very painful and will only ease once it's 'gone'. The pain is so hard that it wakes me up at night and I make myself be successful on the toilet so I can get back to sleep. I talked to my sister about this and she has the same thing. On the other haand I think your doctor should investigate a bit more to eliminate other potential problems. So don't let yourself be put off with and go to your doctor asking for more answers especially if your problem persists. Doctor are very busy but should have time to listen if you are worried about something. I wonder why your appetite is not very big? Are you stressed?

I get this soreness too. Sometimes feels like I'm passing cut glass! I find increasing my fibre intake helps. I have changed to granary bread and have a handful of dried fruit daily. I also find, applying a bit of Aqueous cream to the area after goingto the loo, helps to ease the after effects. The docs are not much interested unless you report any bleeding from the back passage. Then they will immediately send you for testing. You have my sympathies. Hope this problem eases for you soon. Debbie.

I have bleeding but i think thats mainly due to the fact that its ripping or the soreness.

Hi Rachel and all, it sounds similar to something that I had last year - I can relate to the broken glass mentioned as I had just that feeling. It was never exactly diagnosed, but combined with a doctor's appointment I worked out myself that it was probably a fissure and I was prescribed Fybrogel which, combined with more fluids, more fruit, more exercise, finally did the trick.

Please don't put up with this! It is quite miserable. I had had three periods too close together (causing constipation), was not drinking enough and was sitting too much (studying). I tried to have an apple and a kiwi fruit every day, plus less caffeine and more water/squash/fruit juice, and walking or exercise - it certainly helped. Trouble is these sort of things are embarassing so  it's easy to hope it will sort itself, but that doesn't always happen.

Diet can definitely cause this. A diet with not enough fiber will cause it. Also, the area could have a hemmrhoid. Does it ever feel swollen or inflammed? If so, that's likely what it is. If you get frequent hard stools, constipation, or don't eat enough fiber that can happen. Also caffeine and greasy foods can cause similar problems. If it's been going on a long time, it could be something like IBS forming. But sometimes it's just a case of a system that doesn't break things down. Anyways, using baby wipes (I love Water Wipes) instead of toilet paper can be extremely helpful. Also, using Preparation H suppositories or the cream can help relieve the pain as well, even if it's not hemmerhoids. Sometimes just a drop of something to coat it, like Vaseline helps as well. Good luck to you!

I agree with that the area could be inflammed and that causes problems with hard feaces. Cream does help and getting rid of the inflammation by eating healthy.

Have a look at anti-inflammatory foods, eat more of them and less of inflammatory foods (which are fats, sugar etc).

    Hi RachelPPSA91,

My name is Jenny and may I suggest adding more Fibre to your diet? Brown sugar, Prunes, Bran, Celery, Beans, Berries, Grains, Green veggies, Squash, Nuts and certain Fruits.

After I had children I always had problems with controlling my Fibre intake so would get constipated so now I have a daily drink of Metamucil and make sure I have at least 5 high fibre foods a day. That keeps me regular and i rarely have a problem in the toilet.

I hope you have found something that works for you otherwise try a high fibre diet and see how that goes? :P
