Toilet Problems

A bit of an embarrasing subject, but I'm hoping someone has an idea of what's going on.

After doing a number two at the toilet, on rare occasions maybe 2-3 times a month, I will experience incredible sharp pain on the inside of my anus. Usually only lasts 5-10 minutes, but it's so painful it often brings me to tears. I have been diagnosed with IBS, and I have had a colonoscopy after a particularly bad episode of these pains, and they found nothing.

I'm 31, very fit, and have been on a low fodmap diet for about 3 months now, but I'm still getting this pain on occasion... Any ideas?

IBS pain comes and goes;  it rarely goes away completely.  Have you bowel habits changed from constipation to loose stools or diarrhoea?  Have you got stomach pain that moves about? Has Fodmap helped you to identify food triggers?

Since going on the fodmap, I've had little to no gut pain or bloating, so it has helped in that regard. But I still get constipation on occasion. The weird thing about this pain is it happens when everything is going normally. I'll have a normal bowel movement, and still get the pain afterwards.

Take an antispasmodic for the pain such as Buscopan combined with Nurofen. Often there is no rhyme or reason for the pain.

Regarding the intense pain you have, feels like it's literally at the centre? I've had this for years, like you i get attacks about 2-3 times a month. It makes me arch my back in pain when it happens and then 10 mins later it vanishes. I had a barrium enema years ago and they diagnosed it as Proctalgia fugax. I've since been diagnosed with IBS too, triggered mainly by anxiety.

After a quick google search, sounds like it could be that. I do have quite severe anxiety problems, even before being affected by IBS, something I gotta keep working on...
