Told my sister about LS

Posted , 5 users are following.

She's in her late 50's and, when I told her about my diagnosis, she said she can no longer wear tight pants - only yoga pants - because of how sore she is and because of the sores she has on her vag! She said, Oh, that might be what I have. Hasn't even talked to her gyno - just accepts it as a post menopausal thing. Shows you the difference between the 2 of us...she's just putting up with it and I'm totally up in arms about it, obsessively researching it cheesygrin

Good evening Msbutterfly, I told my two closest confidants about my LS 4 years ago for awareness .... never got any glimps of interest back from them. Talking about my sister and mother. My mother even told me a year ago   ( oh I’m all normal on that very normal.... everything good and perfect down there). Turns out last week she was staying the weekend... told me about weird symptoms.... I asked if i could check ( not fun but for the sake of health.... had to do it) she’s 80 years old and lots of fusing already. So much for me being the only alien 👽 in the family.  Next im taking her to my gynecologist. Talking about it is the key to maybe one day get the attention we deserve from research teams. Xx

bridgette, I had 2 older sisters. One recently died of estrogen dependent breast cancer. She had been on estrogen blockers so you can imagine the problems that must have caused her. She had had a hysterectomy then went on HRT for years which probably caused the cancer.

My other sister has no complaints though also had a hysterectomy. My mom lived to 95, had a hysterectomy way back in her 30's but did not have any issues that I know of.

I have never had a hysterectomy, but clearly have a shortage of estrogen as I have atrophy and now the LS.

It makes total sense that there's a genetic connection. And it does feel good not to be the only alien, LOL

Hi, yes there is a genetic connection and I pray that my daughter doesn't get this.   Gotta say re your sister, it sounds like she doesn't really know the enormity of what she has, but that could change at any time as you know.

Yes, totally agree with you guppy. I’m kind of shocked that she hasn’t talked to her dr or tried to fix this. I can’t believe that she’s lived with it for so long. That’s not my personality at all.
