Tolerance to beta blocker?

hello, I was just wondering if anyone has noticed that they have built up a tolerance to their medications.  I'm 35 years old and was diagnosed with atrial tachycardia in January after having two episodes of SVT, heart rates of 170 and 220.  I've seen my cardiologists and have had ekg and worn a monitor for 10 days.  This resulting in my cardiologist informing me that yes ,y heart does weird things but "no bad rythms".   I am currently taking lopressor 75mg twice a day and our goal is symptom management however it seems that about every 4 weeks we are having to increase the lopressor to achieve control.  Am I building up a tolerance to this med? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, you can build up a tolerance to meds. I am on metoprolol also and have noticed that it seems to not last as long. I will be going to my Dr and will ask Thursday. Sending the best to you.

Were you examined thoroughly to establish a cause for these episodes as 220 is quite high? What initially brought your heart back into normal rhythm? Mine reached 280 and had to be shocked back into normal rhythm. 5 days in cardiac ward and further investigations revealed the problem, which is now fixed so no more drugs. I just wondered. Best wishes
