I was only in 3 days, seems to be the norm. What with visitors, physio, sleep. I didnt have time or really feel like doing anything. I had my tv on, but time passed by so fast, I was coming home before I knew it. 10 weeks have passed, not back to work for another 3 wks yet. The first 6 weeks at home, is physio and sleep, rest.So see how you are and let your body mend. It takes time. Good luck.

I too never had chance to get bored, with visitors, constant blood pressure and temperature checks.i paid for the TV and glad I did because it encouraged to have a lie down and 50 winks in the day.Good luck for tomorrow,I wasn't nervous at all I was just glad to get it done and kept telling myself the pain couldn't be much worse than what I was going through on a daily basis. I had my op just over a month ago and need my other one doing in the near future,I won't hesitate other than surgery pain that horrible groin pain went straight away, shame it's still in my other hip.

Good luck for tomorrow you will be fine xx

The best thing I had going for me in the hospital was that my sister was there with me during the days, and my husband was with me in the evenings. I was so out of it from the surgery and the meds, that it was extremely helpful for me to have someone with me most of the time, who could help me get what I needed from staff. They also could actually remember or write down accurately important things that I was told by doctors and nurses. Having them there to advocate for me if I needed it was so important.

The only other things I needed were my phone, chargers, glasses and underwear. I had no time (and no brain!) to read any of the books I brought. I was there for 4 nights.

    Best of luck, Debi!

    Hi Debbie

You will be fine.  Do you know if you will be getting a general and what approach your surgeon will be performing?  I took in too much stuff with me, changes of clothes, make up,  but you only really need toiletries, a couple of night shirts (or T shirts) for night time. - PJ bottoms not a good idea.  During the day loose fitting joggers or leggings but you will only need maybe 1 change of clothes.  The hospital supplied towels. You will need one pair of slip on shoes.  I also took my kindle and my phone and I had wifi so I could text and email 2h after my surgery. Otherwise I watched tv and entertained my visitors.

There will be too much going on for you to be bored and you will be home in no time at all. The if you are like me you will be back on email and organsising everything.  One thing I would recomend practising with your aids if you have them yet, and make sure you have a comfortable chair so you can sit at your laptop when you get out.

I wish you all the best!

    Alison (Scotland) xx

Good luck, although I'm sure you won't need it. My advice is take it easy, be kind to yourself and don't rush things. ☺
