ok so I can't pretend it's not going to happen any longer as i have to be at the hospital in less than 12 hours. I'm resigned but frightened. Glad I stumbled across this forum it's been helpful.

    Hi Catrin,

don't worry all will be fine, I had mine 13 weeks ago and it feels great, my only problem is I now have excruciating pain in the other one so I'm booked in for my 2nd next month, I had a spinal block and some sleeping meds, I didn't feel a thing, and I woke up to see my hip joint  ( I had asked to see it beforehand) so good luck,

    regards,

    Lynne.

Hi Lynne did you have any trouble with your other hip before first op .? My other hip is very sore now I am hoping it is just reaction after first op . I wish I had asked to see mine . My elderly dad who lives with me wanted to put it on mantelpiece ! Charming

      Hi Mary,

yes I was diagnosed 3 years ago with cronicOA in both hips, I think the body knows just how much it can take at one time becausenwhile I was waiting for my first opp it was that hip that was agonising ,hardly any pain in the right one, but as soon as I recovered from the opp my other hip started to feel the same as the first did, so now I have to get it done, I'm not mobile at all, my surgeon said they are both buggared (his words lol)anyway I'm hoping that after this 2nd opp I might get some quality of life back,

      regards,

      Lynne.

You will do fine and are probably very prepared for everything. The first few weeks take some adjustment, but as time passes you will contine to see improvement and regain your independence and strength. Blessings to you for your surgery and afterwards, keep us posted once you get back home!! Susan

Good luck, Catrin! I'm sure everything will be fine! Everyone is nervous but I found the hospital staff in pre-op and anaesthetist really kind and well aware of how I was feeling! They did everything possible to help to keep my spirits up! Next thing I knew I was going back onto the ward! Do not suffer unnecessarily! Take all medication they offer! This will help you to get mobile!!
