Tongue

Hi there

For the past few weeks, I’ve noticed my tongue looking a bit patchy. There’s like white borders around reddish areas - I’ve linked pictures below. Does anyone know what it is - I’m thinking geographic tongue, but I don’t know?

Thank you

I’ve added the pics but it’s not showing up for me (I’m on my phone) - let me know if it hasn’t uploaded.

I dont really any pain or anything, maybe mild discomfort but I don’t know if that’s psychological.

To attach pictures, make sure you're posting from either a tablet or a computer, not a cellphone as it would not give you the option to upload media. You should see a screen similar to the one I attached below 👇

I see patches in some of the pictures. But it's still not suggestive of anything. Honestly, it might be because of something you ate. Or may I ask? How thoroughly do you brush you tongue? I ask because some people think it's not very healthy to brush the tongue hard, to which I say WRONG! The tongue must  be well brushed. So, if this is you I'd suggest thorough brushing of good tongue; then watch and see if the patches reappear. I hope this helps.

      Thanks for the reply!

I didn’t look at my tongue for two days and finally looked today - and it’s all gone! I do have some red patches though, but I was mostly worried about the white lines.

I do have Crohn’s disease, and was in the middle of a flare up after a plane ride - figured it must be something related to that.

I'm sorry to hear about your Crohn's. You might want to wait a little longer to see if it'll repeat.
