Tongue burning on fluoxetine?

Hello all,

I was put on prozac 2.5 weeks to get off of another medication. Yesterday was my last dose. However i have noticed for the last week and a half my tongue has been burning! at first i thought i burnt my tongue on food, but it has not gotten better. it is a moderate constant burning sensation on the top of my tongue. feels raw and burnt! is this a side effect? the roof of my mouth feels it as well but less severe. will this go away as i am off it now? it is freaking me out! has anyone expericed this?

dancing what I went through, I am not exactly sure of the diagnosis however I was given NYSTATEN oral rinse and FLUCONAZOLE 200mg. I believe it was either a yeast infection or thrash, not sure if it is related to the medication but it is coincidental I experienced something similar. Ironically what helped me as well was using a tongue scrubber/scraper/cleaner- tool, and Listerine breath mint strips, they burn, but after I used them, the burning layer feeling coincidently went away. If yours was like mine, everything burns it, I could not even eat ketchup.

      albert_9155,

thank you for your response! how odd! yes...eating anything intensifies the burning. Water helps when it is in my mouth. Did being on the medication for the potential thrash or yeast infection help any? how did yours eventually go away? thanks for the tips on what helped you. i know dry mouth is a side effect...i am wondering if that is what i am experiencing and my tongue is just majorly dried out? i would say my mouth does feel a little drier. i am hoping this improves as it gets out of my system. if not i will need to get it checked out for sure. thanks for responding!!! i saw another post on here from a few years ago and someone experienced the same thing. she did not say if eventually got better but was asking about it.
