Tonsillitis for 4 weeks now help

Hi just wondering if any one can help me a bit here, I've had tonsillitis for 4 weeks now I had a 10 day course of penicillin which didn't clear it up, followed by a 5 day course of erythromysin and now a 7 day course of erythromisen again (doc wouldn't give me any for a few days as I'm aware I've had a lot of antibiotics), I'm just wondering does anyone know if this could cause any problems? I am going to see ent on 25th of next month so I suppose they had to give me more to try and kill this as I wouldn't last a month. Also my right tonsil is huge! I can't hear out of my right ear too good at the moment as everything sounds muffled any ideas what can help as driving me nuts!!!

thank you

    hi alisa

have you had any tests done you should ask your dr to send you to a ear noise and throat specilist im not a dr but my daughter started like you she went to see one they found out she had a mastoid in her ear but dont take this as the cause of yours also she was only 12 at the time but her tonsil was very large they took them out and the mastoid but they couldn't save her hearing she now has to wear an earing aid i paid private for her to get this sorted for her at that time it was a thousamd pound she is now 50 and wont wear the aid its so tinny she just lip reads you but i wouldnt mess about any longer ask the dr to refer you even if its not the same as hers was.

    good luck keep us posted.

I had tonsilitis from 1st April 2013 until 5th June 2013 everyday, I saw ENT in May 2013 who agreed a tonsillectomy was needed which happened on 5th June 13 it is one of the best operations I've had as (touch wood) I haven't had a sore throat since. My tonsils looked like the moon with craters on and they touched in the middle. The post op recovery isn't great but it is defiantly worth it and my ENT consultant said there wasn't another way they would of recovered on their own (I had antibiotics every week) hope it goes well!
