Tonsillitis turnings into chest infection?

2 days ago i went to the doctor with a bad case of tonsillitis. I've had it countless times, and i am getting them taken out next year, but this is definitely the worst case I've had. It's much worse on one side - covered in white lumps/pus. The doctor prescribed me 666mg of Calvepen taken 4 times daily. I've taken 2 days of antibiotic now, and my throat is beginning to improve but I've woke up this morning with a pain in the left side of my chest, more to the back, and what seems like the start of a bad cough. Could it be possible the infection has spread to my chest? Also, I've never had quinsy before, does this sound like it?

Go back to your doctor, this does sound as though the infection may have spread to your chest. Quinsy often only happens on one side of your throat,so it could be: ask your doctor when you see him/her.
