Tony, I'm sorry to hear this.  I don't have this problem so can't help with it.  But i wanted to ask if you've seen the consultant yet,  and asked whether your work history might factor into your lung problems.

Hope the eating challenges  clear up soon.

Went down in weight from 82kg to 78kg in my first year post bronchX. No apparent reason and my pulmo was unconcerned so I became same when I stabilised. Being a 6 footer I looked better at 82 - look a bit wiry now!

Could be partly better eating regime , more rigour in excercising most days and less beer in my case plus age factor - was 64 yo then (couple of years ago). Talk to pulmo and make sure you have had full range of blood tests and research internet on "why am i losing weight" then relax into the new you?! Good luck.

Forgot to mention. Orthopaedic specialist recently mentioned that I have a little muscle wastage in my thigh area from early stags of osteoarthritic hips. Maybe explains a bit but surely not 4kg!

Aging sucks but still enjoying life having started my 2nd marriage plus first full family at 58yo.

Hi Tony I haven't lost weight with my asthma. I have put weight on which is a side effect with Fostair inhaler. I don't think it is related to your asthma as you say you have other health problems.

    tony,

I read that people with breathing problems burn 10% more calories. It takes more energy to breath and move about and your heart and lungs work harder. Also, I have Bx and when I'm really sick, my appetite is way low, so of course I lose weight.

You should check with your specialist.

Meanwhile, here are drinks and protein/energy foods that you can drink/eat to boost your calorie intake.

    take care, Beth
