Too many thoughts and I can't focus. Help!

Posted , 4 users are following.

I first experienced health anxiety last year around August-September due to some minor physical health issues. However, with time, it eventually went away over the months.

I was doing great but recently, had encountered it again due to a crazy headache. I wasn't exactly scared of the headache but the memories of the anxiety coming back.

And the last few days, I've been really anxious about having anxiety and thoughts of it never going away.

I've been spending too much time thinking and just inside my mind. That overthinking gets me feeling dizzy and lightheaded sometimes. Its scary.

What can I do to get out of this?

I understand and I’ve done that myself. Feeling anxious about anxiety.

it really is a head game and we have to be careful about our thoughts. Just our thoughts alone can create anxiety. there is a saying that goes........ 'be careful what you think and don’t always believe what you think...........

our thoughts especially first thing in the morning, can set the course for our entire day. That’s why it’s important to stay with positive productive thinking. Such as what can I do for myself today? Focus on the positive. Get some exercise, visit a friend, do a good deed, find things that make you laugh and smile. The moment I get a negative thought, I don’t get anxious anymore. What I do is I acknowledge the thought but then I calmly say "I know you are there anxious thought, but I am busy right now so goodbye" and then you can watch the thought float away like a leaf on a stream. or something on that order. And then I get on with doing other positive things. The more you repeat that the more your brain will automatically get rid of the negative thoughts.

We have to retrain our brains.

I had to learn to get out of my head and get into my life! Stay busy, do things for others,. Focus on your life instead of what’s going on in your head. Live outside your head not in it. The more you do that the last anxiety you will have. ❤❤❤

hello! its nice to talk to you again. i'm very thankful for your help last year and also for replying this time too! i was doing great for the past few months but recently started therapy again after getting caught in an anxious spiral over a bad memory and too much time spent on other anxiety forums.

as you mentioned, i've been spending too much time inside my head (almost all day!) and not doing anything productive. i keep thinking of it as a life sentence of sorts and while therapy helps, the thoughts still do come back. especially thoughts like "what if i always keep feeling this way?" or "am i ever going to feel like myself again?"

i read about people struggling with different conditions like panic disorders, social anxiety and while i don't have it, i still worry over "what if i develop it?" or something like that.

i don't feel like myself and keep thinking about it. but i try to hold onto the hope that i will get over it like i did previously and feel better soon!

When I feel like I am spending too much time in my head I try and get myself busy and it helps with overthinking and gets my mind off of things
