Too Scared to Go to the Doctors

I initially had a consultation over the phone with the doctor (that seems to be how doctor appointments are being conducted where I am right now) about a month ago because I had tingling limbs, back pain, chest pain and headaches etc. The doctor then told me they thought it was anxiety and gave me a number of further help.

However, the tingling now seems to be in my whole body, my right arm keeps tingling and is sore and so are both my hands, and sometimes my legs and ankles as well. This has been very scary and distressing for me and my family has suggested going to the doctor again, but I am now too scared in fear there really is something wrong with me physically... I am too scared and feel like I would rather not know at this point. I know it sounds ridiculous but I can’t help it the idea just terrifies me now.

I keep looking for reassurance that these symptoms are normal/occur with anxiety but the most terrifying things keep coming up when I search them up it’s so scary. I also feel so confused cos these symptoms mostly started when I was just at home back from University relaxing at home? I don’t understand how I could’ve been anxious and even sometimes when these symptoms occur I don’t understand cos I don’t feel particularly scared.

I am trying not to take it too to heart but it seems like the moment I read something once it stays in my mind for DAYSSSS.

I don’t know what to do I feel so helpless

Listen, i have the same symptoms, the only thing that caused my symptoms to slow down was getting everything tested and knowing everything is fine. If something is wrong, there is treatment, there is god. Things can get worse or they could get better. Tell yourself doctors are there to help, if it is anxiety, please ask the doctor for a therapist. Just talking to someone helps a bunch. Please get yourself checked out, you will feel an anchor off your shoulders. The tests they will administer would most likely be, Chest Xray, blood test, and an MRI. I hate blood tests, i told my doctor they had a full conversation with me while another doctor would take my blood. I recommend going to the ER, instead of taking a visit to your primary doctor. Your primary doctor would give you a reference to a cardiologist and a neurologist, which would then take another couple weeks to get results, ER is more instant. Don't make your anxiety worse buddy, your gonna be just fine 😃

    all the best

Hi, K94698. Anxiety can do a lot of things from mental to physical. A lot of symptoms I have are physical. I often think the same thing (anxiety can't possibly cause all these physical symptoms). But it can and that's the frustrating part. I have had thr tingling in my feet, legs, hands. I've had chest pain (currently experiencing that; and I don't feel anxious but I'm assuming my subconcious is), arm pain, back pain, neck pain, dizziness, feeling weak. It definitely could be anxiety but if you are second guessing that it may be anxiety then schedule an appointment with you PCP. It also could be something as simple as a vitamin deficiency. Have you ever experienced anxiety or this is your first time?

you can actually cause symptoms to occur simply by reading all that stuff online. My suggestion is to stop doing that! It does not pertain to your individual situation. Tingling arms and legs can be caused by things such as a vitamin or mineral deficiency which is easily resolved, anxiety and stress, which is what I had and I also thought I had a terrible disease but I did not.,

I was also like you when I first got a lot of symptoms at one time in my mid-20s. I was terrified! I had the tingling all over, muscle twitches, eye floaters, weakness, and many more. I was too afraid to go to the doctor. But then I was mentally torturing myself by doing that. I thought that it’s actually worse to sit around and think about it and worry and feel miserable then to actually go to the doctors and just find out what’s going on if anything.

Don’t mentally torture yourself! I went to the doctors and I found out all of my symptoms were related to long-term stress and anxiety. In a way it was a relief because I knew it wasn’t serious.

i highly recommend that you speak with the doctor and most likely it will be anxiety related. But there’s nothing worse than thinking thinking thinking.take care. You’ll feel better soon

First ofvall I'm sorry your going through this. secondly this does sound like anxiety to me because I'm going through the same thing like you too. However I'm also on meds. Believe me you do not want to wait until its too late, this could be a really simple thing to fix. Also, stop the googling of everything because it only makes it worse, I know from plenty of experience. Also there's alot of research to show that this stress/ anxiety will build up on you at a RANDOM UNEXPECTED moment. I too have dealt alot with this unwanted guest. I bet you just need some meds at thats all, what do you have to loose? let me know
