Annie, first of all, if you have been to emergency every day for the past 2 weeks and they have not found anything wrong with your heart, there is nothing wrong.

Regarding medication, I understand you completely as I have fear of meds as well. But sometimes in life you just have to take the "risk" because it is obvious from your post that you are in a bad place.

When I started taking meds for my anxiety I was so scared that I had to do it with a doctor there because I though I would die. This is a long time ago and nothing happened.

I really would explain everything to your doctor and maybe you can do like I did, they could also give you some benzo (short term) you decrease your level of anxiety, at least enough so that you can function.

I completely agree with Sasical. you are already as miserable as you can be. Sometimes we do have to take a risk and chances are everything will be fine. Don’t overthink this. You are projecting what might happen if you take the med but you really don’t know that will actually happen. See how it goes because the only way to go now is up! relax yourself as much as you can, do mindfulness breathing exercises, etc. your mind is working against you but it doesn’t have to. Take one step and one day at a time.

I'm in exactly your position,. I have been prescribed Pregabalin and should start taking it tonight. My symptoms are totally debilitating - vertigo, lightheadedness, nausea, blurred vision, retching, tremors. I have been resisting medication, except for a diazapam occasionally, but I now feel I've nothing to lose. Good luck with the setraline, hope it works for you.
