Too young to have Hypertension 😢

I just discovered my HBP last week with a reading of 164/93... I was totally shock and depressed as this happens to me... I have a family history of high blood pressure... I have my ECG/ X-ray / blood tests and urinalysis and all came back normal. I went to my family doctor and told me that he will monitor me for a month and decide if he will give medication. After that I totally change my diet like more vegetables/ fruits/ herbal tea / fish / juices/ and lots of water and do a lot of cardio at the gym.. right now my BP is 146/88... I know still high but at least better than the first time of 164/93. I’m so depressed right now and I need advise from all of you....Â

Im 17 and my normal bp was 145/70 . I drink hibiscus tea for a month now and it does wonders.. my bp was 138/73 EVEN AFTER A COFFEE. So it really helps. Also try eating a slice of garlic a day. I ate omega 3 capsules but didnt really do much. I also drink a green tea and i feel so good. You should do too. 1 hibiscus and garlic and green tea. It will make you feel better trust me. Also you stress yourself out. Calm down.
Before checking bp do this:
It helps you relax. And also keep working out. You will be fine, just dont stress your levels are not that bad😄

I'm sorry you're having a hard time with this--it doesn't have to be a big scary deal. I was diagnosed with HBP at 22, when I think I weighed about 120 pounds, walked maybe three or four miles a day, and ate well. It was just my stupid family genetics--everyone on both sides of my family had it--and there was nothing I could do to avoid it. I went on meds, and aside from an occasional tweak in my dosages or a switch to a new medication here and there, it's all been fine. Now, at 50, I'm actually in much better health/shape than when I got that initial diagnosis (although I am taking three meds for the HBP). The important thing is to keep going to a doctor you trust, keep eating well and exercising, keep taking meds if you wind up having them prescribed, and you should be able to live your life the way you want to.

hi Bryan
I too have familial HBP was diagnosed in my 30's I was able to maintain reasonable levels for many years thru a good diet and exercise regimen, Hibiscus tea helped me a lot as well (2-5 cp/daily) but as I aged (am now 55) I cannot manage to keep levels at an acceptable level therefore about 3 yrs ago started on some low dose medication, although Drs. told me that I would need to increase the dosage regularily that has not been the case, keeping my diet and exercise regular has allowed me to stay on very low dosages. Don't be afraid if your numbers are a bit high, people with familial always run at a higher level than most and that's okay but DO keep in regular touch with your Dr. and monitor your levels.
