Took 25mg of Zoloft also known as sertraline for 9 days, help!!!

so i took 25mg of Zoloft (Sertraline) for 8-9 days, i had to desperately stop taking the medication due to bad side effects, i believe i was overmedicated due to not being myself, having panic attacks, anxious nonstop, had been hearing someone screaming my name repeatedly non-stop in a fearful voice which didn't happen until i started zoloft, etc

my doctor says that i Haven't taken it long enough and that it was such a low dosage that i wont feel any withdrawals,

i need help, is this true,

is there any thing i should be on the look out for?

it is a pretty low dose... and it the half life is one day. so after your fourth day of not taking it, there won't be much in your system.

and you probably shouldn't have withdrawal symptoms after 8 days.

Hi natasha yes 25mg is a low dose but side effects can be still be present - I took 50mg for 5 weeks and my side effects got worse so stopped them abruptly doc said it would be ok - that was 10 days ago and tbh still feel terrible main things chest pains and breathless but loads of others to more anxiety - headaches - flu like symptoms - stomach issues the list goes on - I never had this lot before sertraline yes I had a little anxiety and have fibromyalgia but was able to have a semi normal life but since the sertraline that has changed.

I think docs put you on these happy pills far to quickly they wanna try going on them, they may work for some people which is good but alot of people probably regret they ever took them I know I do :0(

    All the best Mark

Interesting Mark as I have had a very similar experience to you! I was on it for 7 weeks, 50mg, and had to just stop taking as I had awful stomach upsets and a ringing in my right ear. I'm under an ent consultant for a globus sensation in my throat and I saw her today. She said Sertraline can take up to a month to fully leave our systems and so side effects/withdrawel should be clear after around 4 weeks. My stomach was fine 2 days after stopping Sertraline but the ringing is still going. Her advice was ignore it! So know I have anxiety, still have globus and a ringing in my ears! I wish I'd never taken it too! Having said that we are all different and I'm glad it works for some people.
