Took the plunge 😊

so I woke up this morning and thought stuff it I'm gonna cut my tablet in half and taper down off of the 20mg of escitalopram before I see my doctor in 6 weeks. I'm planning on changing to something different as this AD isn't working for me.

So far so good. I had a slight headache this morning and feel a bit out of it but my anxiety that has been sitting in my chest for days on end is gone. I know its early days from tapering down but I'm glad I just went for it.

I did this a few times. I was only on 10mg but went from 5 to 2.5. i was ok as long as I took some. I always ended up on another medication though. TRINTELLIX did not agree with me. PROZACK agreed with me physically but not mentally. I was on CYMBALTA for a year, that was ok but very hard to stop. I am now on VIIBRYD. I TRIED it once but it didn't agree with me. I don't know if its really working but havent had a lot of side effects so far.

If i knew what I would be getting myself into, I would have never started this rollercoaster.

Albert - I'm in the same boat as you my friend and you have my every sympathy.

Cassandra - 10mg is a big drop - go careful and if you feel you need to, do not hesitate to updose to 15mg to stabalise. This would usually occur in the first 3-4 weeks, after that you may find effects from going up 5mg as your system, although giving my side effects, is more used to the 10mg dose.

thanks for your reply Matt. I know what I'm in for so it's all good. I've always upped or dropped my dose by 10mg whenever I've been on ssri' s. when I was on celexa the doctor upped me 10mg every week. until I was on 40mg. going from 30-40mg was hard as the first attempt wasn't good. I only came off of them because I became pregnant.

Being on lexapro I've only gone to 20mg as it is the highest dose. I think I'm suffering more from a panic disorder than anxiety now days.

hoping to start something new in the next 6 weeks that helps me more

Hey Albert, thanks for your reply!

sorry that you've had to chop and change meds so much. fingers crossed this one helps you more! it sucks that one med doesn't suit everyone and we have to go through all the awful side effects to help us get through.

      wishing you all the best!

Just remember that 10mg of Escitalopram is equivalent to 20mg of Citalopram!

A lot of anxiety and panic symptoms can be overcome with the right methods - it is how I have got as far as I have in my anxiety recovery.

yeah I know that Matt. I used to be on citalopram 40mg a few years ago.

What methods have you used to overcome your anxiety. I've tried yoga but that didn't work.

I do a lot of find a words as that eases my mind and stops my thoughts. I find this helps. diamond paintings too but I haven't been interested lately.
