Tooth extraction

I had an abscess in my tooth and on 18 December I was advised by the dentist to have the tooth extracted,  The dentist had problems with getting my tooth out and the tooth broke while trying to pull the tooth out.  Finally after the tooth came out I was shaking by the trauma of what I had to endure for the past 45 minutes on trying to get my left lower tooth out.

I continued to be in pain for over a week and was advised to take amoxicillin for five days and ensure that I take strong painkillers,  It was over the Christmas period and I couldn’t take the pain any more so I called the dentist and said that I was still in pain and couldn’t sleep at night as I had throbbing pain where I had the tooth out and experienced the dry socket.  The dry socket was dressed and said I should be ok and said everything should improve in at least 7 to 10 days.  Nothing has improved I have finished my course of antibiotics,  I called the dentist on new years eve I he was able to give me Metro  antibiotics,  I have only been taking these for the past couple of days but the pain is horrendous feel like every 3 / 4 hours I have to take the painkillers to ease the pain.  I just want to know it gets better, im going away on the 5th and a holiday I have been looking forward too now how can I go in this pain.

    Hi Michele

Please get assessed at the hospital. I had the same issues as you and the pain etc caused my blood pressure to elevate. I needed medication.

    Hope you feel better!

      Hi, thanks

I have an appt to see my dentist in the morning. Can I ask what your issue was, people keep saying my tooth should have been stitched. Now I have a tingling feeling in my tongue and my side of my face is swollen with slight jaw ache.
