Topiramate and unexplained lower left stomach pain

My husband was prescribed topiramate for migraines. He started with 50 mg. and has worked his way up to 100 mg. over 4 months. After 3 months, he started experiencing what he was calling "rumbling guts" every time he ate ANYTHING no matter how small. This progressed to severe stomach pain. So bad we went to the ER. This man NEVER goes to the doctor but he went then. Pain at an 8 or a 9 and he was pale as a ghost. Had blood work and CT scans on 2 separate ER visits. They found nothing and sent him home with PEPCID! Then his primary care doctor decided to treat him for diverticulitis just because we had no ideas 2 antibiotics, 10 days, and lots of rest. No help. as soon as he started to move around as normal, the pain was back. Now it is concentrated in the lower left abdomen about 3 inches from his hip bone. So we thought maybe a hernia. But no bulge and they didn't see anything on the CTs. The pain becomes debilitating especially the more physical things he does. He has had blood work, 2 CT scans, ultrasound, MRI and nothing can be found. I see other people have mentioned being diagnosed with nerve damage, but not how the nerve damage was diagnosed and how long after stopping topiramate did you start to feel better? He is weaning down off it now but is weak from the severe pain and weight loss and really needs some information to give him hope. thank you
