Oct 12 i had total abdominal hysterectomy due to large fibroids.

Ever since I have been in pain.

Im getting depressed because of the pain.

My gp had the nerves to tell me that my pain was in my head. My surgeon says I have to live with the pain.

I cant take this anymore. I have a husband 3 kids ages 7,6 and 4 a full time job and i look after my 80 yo mother.

I cant live with pain.

My gp and surgeon wont prescribe anymore pain pills. Walk in clinics wont prescribe them either when at the hoapital after waiting for hrs they treat pain and tell me to go to my gb no one wont send me to a pain clinic. I dont know what to do anynome.

Im so upset so depressed.

I dont want to live in pain forever.

Any advice is helpfull

Thanks in advance

I know exactly how you feel. I had my total hysterectomy in 2015. I had a very difficult time dealing with the pain and every day life. I also have 3 children and am a preschool teacher.  I went from running around all day with my students to being bedridden and practically unable to move. Just sneezing was horrible. Going to the washroom was excruciating and most of the time I just laid on the couch praying for just 5 minutes of being painless.  The doctors told me it was phantom pain and that it couldn’t still be hurting. I cried so much and the thing that helped me the most was getting the underwear with the gel that goes across the incision. They fit tight and supported my incision and everything else that was inside. I do believe you and all the pain you are having. It took me about 13-14 weeks for the pain to subside a little and after that every day was better. I also rinsed my incision every day with sterile saline solution and my incision now is barely visible. I can tell you that it does get better. Some people heal fast but others heal slow. Don’t give up, and remember that after all this you will be healthier than ever. I thought the pain would never stop but it did. Just take the time to recover knowing that every day your getting closer to getting your normal life back. Your family loves you. I hope you feel a little better every day.

I bought mine from storks and berries website. They were very kind and helpful. I also used the hystersister website which told me about the underwear. It was such a relief. I bought 3 so that I could wear them all the time. It was worth it. If I can help you any other way, let me knowsmile

    Hi Juliana

I am due to have my surgery next week and everyone says to give your body time to heal. Busy moms often forget to take care of themselves. Don't give up, your family needs you, but first take time for yourself to heal physical, mental, spiritually. It will get better 😊.
