I probably wouldn't, this activity will put alot of strain on your hip.

You should decide if it's really worth the risk.

    Good luck.

Hi I have 2 new titanium/ceramics 3 months and 4 days old have been giving thought and asking questions about what I can do when they are settled most people say jogging is not good as it is high impact best exercise is probably swimming cross trainer or cycling I am hoping to get back to downhill skiing or maybe trying cross country so am enthusiastic to get moving again shift some weight and rebuild fitness levels I have treated my 4 day old left to a short light spin bike session today with no discomfort have also been advised that breaststroke swimming (when wound healed) is ok to do which suits me best it seems worst exercises are those which involve impact or twisting. good luck with it

Hi ebbe if your comfortable and no lasting pain and your surgeon wasn't to against your running then do what's best for you, every one is different and heals at their own rate and does what they find ok, I'm hoping I can get back to dancing after mine, eventually

Everyone is different I am not planning to run again I acheived a marathon in the past but with 2 prosthetic hips and a little too much weight at the moment it certainly is not on my plan have you looked into Nordic walking supposed to be very good cv exercise and works core muscles well

WOW jogging, did your surgeon sanction it?? I would be v surprised if he did so soon after op but it all depends on your surgeon I suppose but if your having problems then stop and take up less strenuous exercise for a while, ice it as well and maybe make an appointment with your surgeon to double check it's all ok and then you can also ask about jogging again.

You can only do what's good for you

Im certainly no doctor,  but why would you want to do such a high impact exercise like running, when there are so many low impact ways to exercise, as others have mentioned? Besides, your new hip will last longer with lower impact exercise.

My Surgeon said I can run as far, as long, and as fast as I want.  Then he smiled and said he will see me years soon for a replacement.

Totally up to you.  May I ask what type of Doctor you are?

In my opinion no unless the idea of a revision and all the possible dangers of it not being successful appeals to you!

It is not just the wear on the prosthesis to consider, it is the loosening of the stem that is the biggest danger IMO.

    Cheers Richard
