Yes and yes.
Sleeping on your back is hard and what you describe as "jumping legs" I assume to mean spasms.
Three weeks on I am still having problems sleeping but that is down to me having "nods" during the day so that at night I am not so tired.
My wife has put me on a routine where I have my dinner around 7PM, stay up until 11PM. Then take my normal medication (heart) and although I want to stop taking pain killers she makes me take one paracetamol at bedtime with a glass of milk. Daily gentle massages around the thigh help as does a cold compress.
You are only day 8, don't worry, there will be a very quick improvement as your muscles heal and the pain gradually goes away. The sleeping on the back is hard but as long as you get a few hours at a time it will be OK.

I have found that taking one Magnesium Citrate 100mg tablet each evening works for me but it is a rather low dose, one morning and night would be better but I prefer to take as few tablets as possible. If you have leg cramps then a drink of tonic water works wonders or a quinine tablet in the evening is very effective for many people.
Cheers

I bought magnesium citrate as recommended on here. I took 200mg per day. They worked for me from first night. Definitely worth a try.

Muscle spasms are common too - mine disappeared after a few days.
at this stage, it seems a long way to full recovery, but you will get there eventually, take it easy, and do the exercises.
