Total Hip Replacement Anterior 7.6.17, still much pain

Posted , 9 users are following.

Post op 8 days and finally asked my Doc for better pain management. Started last night- not sure it helped. I am 47 years old, active, fit and still using a walker. I think my expectatoins for the recovery process was greater than my actual progress. Frustrating.

Most pain seems to be at my knee, preventing me from allowing more weigh baring movement. Ice is my friend.

I DO realize the trauma those muscles experienced and i am TRYING to cut myself a little slack... but... all these articles of pain free recovery are bumming me out.

Anyone...?

Dear Deb you in early stage to be fine. Its take longer. First few weeks is not realy nice but get better day by day. Your body need to heel it doesn't metter if you have an anterior you are still need to heel and rest. Listen your body and talke it easy. I did not have an anterior i have normal hip replecmant when surgon had plenty of room and my scar is abot 10 cm long and very nice. I will be 10month after hip replecement next month and it take me while to be fine. I had walker for a 6 weeks and than hydro therapy for 4 weeks. Just take it easy, rest when you need, do some excersice,

Eat lots of frut. Every body heeling difrently . Take care hug Madla💗

The Oxycodone DOES seem to have helped me tolerate more movement... but I keep saying that i think it hurts more in my KNEE sad

SInce its summer and I don't really have much of a need for shoes, I started wondering if wearing good walking sneakers might help. I put on sneakers and socks yesterday for a "walk" and I am trying to increase my steps each day -- * my FitBit has been a great monitoring tool.

    Ice, Ice and more ice.
