It's one week tomorrow I had my tkr I'm doing ok but I've got a constant ache in my heel/ankle it feels like I've got a tight bandage on

There's a little swelling but no redness it's more of an annoyance but does affect my sleep

Any ideas please

    Hi Gwyneth,

I had the same thing.  In the hospial, I had a burning, stabing pain in my heel.  Then almost 4 weeks post op it happened again.  The pain medicine didn't even work.  It was so bad I was crying.  I haven't slept for almost a month and last night was the first night without excruciating pain.  Please have patience.  It is a very tough surgery.  Thank goodness we have this blog.

Good luch and don't be hard on yourself.  Also, PT is the most important part of recovery.

Take care....we are all rooting for each other

Hello, did you have the pump bags on your feet /leg that help with circulation?,you will find that your leg will be hyper sensitive to all these things I had the sheet touching my foot drive me crazy,it will be nothing to worry about has all the bruising come out yet,I had alot around my ankle and the arch of my foot ached,I had minimal invasive tkr and this involves the tourniquet from hell around your thigh that was probably the worst pain and discomfort I had just remember those ankle pumps for circulation you can never over do them they really helped me

      Hi thanks for your reply

No I didn't have pump bags after surgery

I had this feeling as soon as the spinal wore off it feels like I've got a really tight bandage on

I'm thinking maybe it's just a nerve damage

Anyway I'm just glad to have had the surgery

Take care and good luck with your new knee x

      Hi Gwyneth,

Hope you are feeling better. I did not have this in my heel, but had and still get that feeling if a tight bandage wrapped around my leg just below my knee. It is becoming less and less 10 weeks on. I am just taking it as part and parcel of recovery (it's not painful, just tight).

This forum has kept me going big time.

      Best wishes,

      Alan
