Total knee replacement

Hi everyone, I know some of you come on here before your operation and some of the stories are scary and not very optimistic. I'll tell you my story. I'm 51, waited 4 years between my first x-ray being diagnosed as osteoarthritis in both knees at 47 and being told I'm too young to get a knee replacement. A new doctor joined my practice and sent me for a further x-ray and within 3/4 months I had my operation. I thank this doctor. I was in tears at work, my knee started to lock. I'm 8 weeks post op and I get a shooting pain on the outer knee, I walk a bit slower but like I say it's only 8 weeks. The arthritic pain is completely gone. Go for it!!

Hi Louise!
So glad to hear that you found a doctor to do your surgery and that now your pain is GONE!😄
My physical therapist who came to my home when I was homebound for my first three weeks was REALLY helpful! Turns out she had both knees replaced at 42. She had a rough time finding a doctor, too, but the surgery changed her life!
Our Schwan's delivery guy and I got talking one day when he saw me using my walker coming to the front door. Long story short: He had both HIPS replaced at 33! His was a congenital defect that would only have gotten worse had he not pursued help. He said he went from place to place over a two-year span before anyone would listen to him!
So many times doctors and insurance companies go by guidelines without really looking at the individual case.
I'm glad you found YOUR doctor who saw your pain and focused on YOU and your needs!
Thanks for sharing your story!
I know it will help others to search for real solutions that will help their individual case.
Wishing you continued success and enjoyment of your new life without pain!??
