tramadol and heart attack

I lost my 79 year old mother on Christmas Eve morning suddenly! They found her in my home on the floor, sudden cause of death unknown. The coroner had Tramadol intoxication on her death certificate, don't understand what that even means. I would appreciate any help from anyone on this subject, thank you!

My Mom has been taking tramadol for years, could this be related to her death??

The only only thing I could think of is maybe she accidentally took to much tramadol if that's what their saying the cause of death is. Sounds like an accidental overdose.

I agree with Sway...perhaps she took more than intended?

Also, these type meds build up in your system and as we age our bodies slow down in how we process food, drink, meds, etc.

She may have had it building in her system not completely processed when she took another dose.

Whatever happened is sad. I would suggest calling the coroner and asking him to explain it to you if you need to understand what happened. They are usually very compassionate people willing to take the time to talk.

Condolences on the sudden loss of your mom...always heartbreaking!

    Hi Bunkity,

So sorry you lost your mom especially at Christmas.

As your mom had taken this drug for years, it builds up in the system, without a break the system cannot clear itself and this is how the overdose occurs.

Unfortunately, in this day and age people take any drug without thinking of the consequences, because they think the doctor knows best. Pharmaceutical drugs are very powerful and doctors work for these companies
