Transvaginal ultrasound anxiety

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound done yesterday at 4:30 in the after noon and lasted about 20 minutes. After the exam was over I was totally fine the rest of the night. This morning when I woke up I was bloated, had cramps and lower back ache and it hasn't gone away yet. Is this normal? It was my first transvaginal ultrasound ever. I already had my period this month so it's not that... but should I call my doctor? I'm worried

Well you do have anxiety symptoms, and on top of that I doubt the symptoms are directly due to the ultrasound, but you did say it was your first ever, were you worried during, prior or after it? If so then it most likely is anxiety.

I've been worried to whole entire week about it! I googled cramps after transvaginal ultrasound and a bunch of pregnant forums came up and everyone on those forums were saying it was normal buuuuuut I'm not pregnant

Why did you have the transvaginal ultrasound?

Because I have pain during sex, lower back aches, frequent urination, and my period started coming on a different day every month. My gyno did a physical pelvic exam but didn't feel anything abnormal so he sent me to get a transvaginal ultrasound to see if that shows what is causing my symptoms

Does  the transvaginal include checking your kidneys as well? Bloodwork? To check for somekind of infection? You had a back ache before this test. I honestly dont really know the answer but i wondering if the transvaginal maybe irratated an already existing condition of some sort. I do hope it all gets sorted out and you feel better soon.

I took a urine test during my physical pelvic exam and they never called saying anything was abnormal, so I'm assuming my kidneys are good. I have not had any blood work done yet though...

Maybe ask someone about getting bloodwork. If needed to see what is going on. Bloodwork has a tendency to reveal if theirs infections or something is off or not.i do hope you feel better.

I have an appointment with my general care provider on Friday, I will definitely ask her about getting some blood work done. Thank you so much, I appreciate it

    How are you feeling today?

I feel good today, I'm going to call my gyno tomorrow morning and see what he says about it. I'm also going to bring it up to my general care provider on Friday as well and ask for blood tests as well like you said. I was also thinking maybe saying something about an MRI? I don't know... I'm just afraid that something is wrong and it's just getting worse because the doctors can't find it
