hi i had trapeziectomy with ltri in July last year 2018 iv been told it can take up to a year to recover from my op so not sure what the difference is between yours and mine. i still have difficulty doing certain things. perhaps you are not giving it enough time to heal properly. im sure your surgeon will advise you.

Hi I just had my second trapeziotomy on my left hand using apl tendon and also carpal tinnel release on April 2. My first one was at the end if August 2018. i have to say i think it really takes between 4 and 6 months for almosy perfect. i was able to fingerpick guitar with my right hand after 6 weeks. I'm hoping this surgery goes even better. High stakes! My fretting hand but im optimistic. So i understand your love of golf. I think you just have to give it more time. Its only been 2 months and they usually say at least 3 months. Hang in there! I bet youll be getting birdies before you know it!

I am going to have this surgery also. Did you have an HDA with a K-wire where they removed the trapezium bone? How are you doing new? Where did you have the surgery?
thanks

Hi . I had a Trapeziumectomy over 6mths ago on my left hand due to arthritis. I am 52yrs old and no other arthritis anywhere else. The hand was causing me lots of problems so I was happy to go ahead with a Trapeziumectomy to get rid of the pain.
All went to plan but I did notice through the recovery that the tip of my thumb started to bend downwards and I couldnt touch my 3rd finger with my thumb let alone touch my little finger. I have had countless amounts of physio and splints to help with the recovery but nothing has worked. I am now left with a hand that cannot grab anything as I do not have the span width to even hold a cup. I can only touch my index finger and middle finger with my thumb but cannot stretch over to touch the others. My thumb is so bent down now I cannot even use the pincer movement to pick things up. There is a different pain now in the hand and wrist and a burning sensation especially if I have used the hand too much when at work and the soft in my palm and my wrist swells up. My surgeon has been fully involved as he has never seen this before in his 40yrs of surgery. I am left with a decision to make of going ahead with another operation to see if the problem can be rectified but even the MRI scan didnt really show the surgeon the answer. He thinks a tendon is attatched somewhere but has to reopen the hand again but over an even larger opening. I have been informed that he could make the problem slightly worse but no guarantee either way. I do not know what to do. Has anyone seen or had this problem before.

Hello, i see your post was a few months ago. i had the very same surgery here in Utah, 3 1/2 months ago. My outcome is the very same as yours burning, swelling and not much use of my hand. Has yours improved or have you had a second surgery? thanks in advance for your response.

I am having surgery February 21. the doctor is doing the same surgery that Drew Brees had. he expects a good outcome especially since I don't throw a football. I will not have to have a cast. I will have a splint the whole time. after I get my stitches out at 10 days I can actually take the splint off to shower. we will see.
