Have you tried going to see a massauser? Like sports massage or reflexology? Recently I had terrible pain in shoulder. Didn't go to doctors as had tried pain killers like paracetamol, codeine and ibuprofen and hadn't helped at all. I didn't want to take anything stronger as on medication for other problems so someone suggest massage. I thought I had nothing to lose so tried it. It was painful while she was doing it and felt bruised for few days after but could move it better straight away. It's 10 days now and it's 95% better.

I also wanted to said that trapped nerves are sometimes difficult to manage with pain medication. I have had experience with this as I had two slipped discs in my lower back and the nerves were trapped and pain was running down my legs. I tried a few different medication nothing was helping, in despair my husband rang doctor and asked for home visit as I was in so much pain. By then I had come to the conclusion that nothing would help. Doctor came and agreed with me, she said its a very difficult problem nerve pain to manage. She suggested rest and hot/cold remedy. This is when I first started looking for something alternative. I have also got Carpel tunnel syndrome which is nerves trapped in hands. If you are unable to pay for treatment yourself, go back to your doctor and ask if there is anything he can help you with. I know from friends who have had this problem that GPS have access to resources.

Thanks I've been having accupuncture since I had to go on sick leave and while it does help for a while the pain has returned long before my next appointment. Massage is a no no the acupuncturist tried it and he was almost cleaning sick up. My chest bone fealsthat tender sometimes that if I even stroke it it sends sock waves around the area. Does that sound mad? I can only shallow breath at times. Feel my Doctors diagnosis may be totally correct as this is 3rd diagnosis in8 wks but I don't know how to go about getting another opinion
