i have a friend who has suffered or is suffering PTSD. She has been advised to have shiatsu and accupuncture by a specialist. What will she gain from this course of treatment.

    Hello hunny... I have PTSD and I have tried acupuncture although I have not tried Shiatsu.... I really want to make it clear that everyone reacts differently but personally all i got from it was pain and bruises! Would certainly never do it again... I have found talking about it much better than any medication etc. Hope that helps x

    i wouldnt think any medical dr would recommend such things, to be honest there is no evidence that they are useful for anything.  If they help a person relax, then people can gain secondary benefits from them, but medically no there is no proven gain- and any gp recommending such things would do it with the proviso that it is not a proven or effective treatment
