mrs K to Dublin Ireland

Well done and you will love Antigua. Check the time difference as you need to adjust your steroid intake time.

I am no mathematician but somebody will be along who is.

Dublin's reply

Thanks Mrs K...I had not even thought about how the time difference would interfere with the steroids Rolling Eyes . At present I take my tablets about 8.30 am and Antigua are 4 hours behind us, so do you suggest taking them at 12.30 when away?

All advice welcome and hope I don't get stopped by the drug squad at the airport Laughing . I know it is a few weeks until I go but as the weather has got a lot cooler here in the last week I am looking forward to a bit of sun.

I cannot help Dublin as I do not travel can anybody else?

I know you have to adjust - but how?

I have often flown to Europe and back from the US with a 5 or 6 hour time difference to reckon with. I usually just adjust pill-taking by 3 hours the first day and take them at the usual time the next. I have never had any trouble doing this. When I was in the hospital this summer I never got my pills at the same time as I take them at home but I suffered no ill effects. Might be more of a problem if I went to New Zealand or somewhere further afield I suppose. Just for the record I have Polymyalgia (it will be four years in January, alas) and while I am down to 3.5 mg of Prednisone currently I traveled when I took as much as 18mg! Hope this helps a little.

    All the best,

    Jill

Does that mean that entries are time limited? If so, then the search box, which has helped me twice recently, would not respond. I do hope that that is not the case and that you just meant that people would not keep scrolling.

Re: adjusting time for taking steroids, I recently changed, on my GP's advice, from 7.30AM to 9.30 PM and, I think, took three days. All was fine so perhaps New Zealand could be possible, MsJH, except that, like Mrs.K I don't travel!

Best wishes to all for a good day. BettyE

No it was just a different question posted under 'Never A Days Illness - Now this' and as that one seems to be MargaretAnn's saga, with side issues. I thought the question might get missed.

I am an old biddy me and like things clear. So no their is no time limit that I have ever come across. This site has patience. (ughhhh).

    Mrs.K.

I'm another old biddy and I,too, like things clear.

My computer has got the eebie jeebies this morning so I've come up as guest and will have to remember to log in again. Thanks for clarification.

Hope you all have a good day on the PMR/GCA front. BettyE

    Hi Mrs K,

Just as well this site has patience...I think we might all need it for a while yet smile .Thanks to all for their advice and hopefully the travel won't disrupt my progress. My consultant suggested that I may need to temporarily increase my dose if I find the daily swimming and snorkleing aggravates my hips and knees, but is happy for me to play it by ear and let my body dictate what it needs 8) .I am lucky to have both a considerate and well informed Gp and consultant, as just read the thread from the gentleman whose doctor would not support him using steroids. I can not believe that he has had to cope with pain for that long when help was just a prescription away, and fair play to him for sticking with it, but I would sooner put up with the side effects of the steroids that the pain and stiffness of PMR.best wishes to all, Pauline
