Travel Insurance & PMR

'Morning All,

Is PMR a declarable condition when taking out Travel Insurance?  I must admit I didn't declare it last Christmas when travelling out to the Dordogne

but wonder whether I was foolish not to.

It is unwise not to tell your insurance company about all illnesses, especially an auto-immune illness.  PMR can lead into GCA in about 40% of patients which is why when you are diagnosed with PMR, you are told to watch out for the symptoms of GCA.   You could need emergency treatment and your insurance company would be correct in refusing to pay up.

Banks are good for insurance and so is Saga, but you must declare everything.

So, yes you were foolish, you got away with it last time, don't chance it again.

Every medical condition however minor or apparently irrelevant, should be declared when applying for travel insurance - because if you had a claim and they saw medical records they can and do refuse to pay up if there is something you haven't mentioned whether it has anything to do with the reason for the claim or not. After all. it saves them money!

Different insurers charge varying rates. It also depends on the amount of cover you opt for and whether you want to be flown home etc.
