Treadmill

Morning hippies.  I'm here at the gym.  And usually I get on the elliptical but I decided to get on treadmill.  Now since I've been back coming to gym I've always noticed that I have trouble walking on the treadmill without holding on especially with my left hand. If I use my right I have difficulty walking!  God forbid I don't use any hands, I can't do it!!  I limp terribly!  But on regular ground I can walk fine.  Was wondering if anyone had this problem.   Should I be concerned?   I'm a year out now. Had hip replacement last July and 3 weeks later I'm having a total hip revision.  I just don't understand it.

Also I'm still getting swelling in my thigh just underneath my first anterior incision.  Thanks hippies for tot responses.  Hugs 🤗

are you walking on the flat or incline on the treadmill, that could be the problem. Incline would put pressure on the joint, could also be the speed you at walking at putting pressure on the joint. I know I can only go on the flat and not too fast otherwise hurts and i'm nearly 2 years post op.

No it's flat.  I start slow and increase speed but nothing crazy. It's just disheartening that I'm still limping.   And seeing swelling.   I mean there's got to be a reason for the pain and swelling. Something is going on. I plan to ask my pain dr to do MRI on hip and thigh.  I just think something is going on that they are missing.  I don't want to numb my thigh for months or permanently!!

    Dear Linda

I've never used either of these devices so my comment may be worthless!

I would be tempted to just continue with your normal walking with dual support if you have any tendency to limp. Try going up and down slopes and continue doing your exercises.

    Good luck.

No worries Richard.  I just can't understand how I can't walk on the treadmill without holding on because I limp really really bad yet if I walk on the regular ground I don't really have that problem. maybe because the treadmill is constantly moving wher as the ground is still.  I don't know 🤷🏽??? I just feel if I can walk on the ground without holding onto anything why can't I on a treadmill???

    Dear Linda

I think you are finding it disconcerting because it is moving and you are not used to the ground moving!

    Cheers

    Hi Linda,

Same here, darling --- I have to hold on to the rail otherwise I fall -- or trip --- or something ... I am just not in balance and Richard is, I think right ... We do not have control about our step as the treadmill is just moving underneath us - and I am so not relaxed  - there is no swing in my hips -

watch your posture and the way you walk -

    be safe

    angel blessings
