Treatment

Hi there, I’ve been diagnosed with ibs since I was 12 and I’m now 21. I can’t seem to find any successful treatment. Imodium does help sometimes but when that wears off the diarrhoea is still really bad! I was wondering if anyone can recommend anything that has worked for them? I am going to try enterosgel as I’ve heard that might be effective but would love to hear from other people!  TIA

Have you tried switching your diet? I know it sounds cliche but it actually works. It helps me to eat a lot of carrots and anything with good amounts of fiber. I also try not to eat as much dairy foods and stay away from red meats

Try the Fodmap diet, I’ve cut out a lot of stuff and it’s helped abit. I’ve also tried more gluten free foods which help me. I take oil capsules twice a day. I think there helping. Well they work better than the meds the doctors gave me. Hope this helps.

I often take Imodium, I’ve also tried enterosgel and silicol gel. They all work much the same! The best thing I’ve found is to take a good probiotic and a calcium supplement with vitamin D. Calcium is constipating (make sure it’s with vitamin D and not with magnesium) if you’re in the UK go to Holland and Barrett they are £2.99. Start by taking half a tablet 3 times a day then increase to full ones 3 times a day. It should only take a few days to notice a difference. Then adjust the calcium to what suits you. I only take one a day now if I take more then I do become constipated. Good luck

Hypnotherapy is supposed to help, not guaranteed but it’s worth a shot!
