I would get it checked out by a GI Doctor as soon as possible. I had pains for 2 years in my abdomen & I did go to the Doctor, yet they didn't do a cat scan of my abdomen, so I suffered for 2 years, until the pains were unbearable and an Emergency room Doctor was wise enough to do the cat scan and found out I not only had gall stones, but one was so large & it was blocking the opening to my gall bladder. The Doctor asked me how long this pain had gone on & I told him 2 years. And He said that it was a good thing I'd come in and that I'd need to have surgery right away to remove my gall bladder. They did the surgery 12 hours later. Also, I found out the my Uncle had this same situation happen to him, but by the time his Doctor found out that he did have gall stones, his gall bladder was badly infected, and his pain was so unbearable that even pain meds didn't help, so they induced him into a coma and he died hours later. That scared me a lot, so I'm glad that I went to the Emergency room when I did. Not everyones situation is the same; however if my Doctor would have ordered a cat scan of my abdomen in the first place, I would not have had to suffer for 2 years. I don't know my Uncles story; however if his Doctors would have done a cat scan on his abdomen when the pains began, he most likely would still be a live. Best wishes

well to be fully honest I recently was just diagnosed with gallstones . and I'm a very heavy person but belive I got my gallstones from loosing 200lbs fast . but besides that I get these random sharp pains to the right mid abdomen and left mid abdomen. and they just come and go . Going for blood work today and hopefully a scan to confirm no infection is found .

Pains for me were: front right just below my rib cage, yet above hip bone. And pains in that same region but in my back. It's good your going to the Dr.'s office today, I would urge you to be sure they do a cat scan so they can actually see the problem area and not simply guess at what these pains are. They don't seem to like to order a cat scan, unless you have excellent insurance, so if they don't offer you one, ask them to do one. Blessings & good luck at your appt today.

Sounds like good news, congratulations. Keeping an eye on your pains, bloating, gas, etc. & problems like these, also associated with eating greasy, spicy foods. And if these pains continue I hope you'll request a cat scan of your abdomen from your GI specialist. Best wishes.
