Treatment for osteoarthritis when half hip replacement wears out.

I fell and had a half hip replacement. The socket and cartilage is still mine but the neck of the femur is a metal implant which has eroded the cartilage. I am not healthy enough for a total hip revision operation and I am wondering if steroid injections to relieve pain will be possible for me. Can anyone advise me about my options as regular pain killers are not helping.

If done accurately, injections can bring good relief. It's important however that they are placed very precisely. Best to have a scan guided injection as even the minutest amount off course and they'll not work. My hubby had one in each knee by a consultant who was excellent and within a week he was almost out of pain, which had been horrendous and was stopping him from working or doing much at all.

Thank you. I’m hoping that having a chunk of metal in my hip isn’t going to mean I can’t get this treatment.
