I've been taking Lyrica (50 mg) for about a year, and it's helped with the pain. Lately, some buzzing/tingling in the arm has appeared (the side where I had shingles), but the Lyrica has helped calm the pain enough that I can keep working. Someone later in this thread asked about itching? The itching never seems to go away, and it gets worse with stress. i KNOW that stress is my trigger for worse pain. But Lyrica and an occasional Advil (ibuprofen) keeps me going for the most part. And sleep!

Try two things, together, for itching:

      1.  Aspercreme.

      2.  Drink a large glass of water.

These have worked quite quite well for me. Aspercreme seems to work best with itching.

Thanks! I'll give Aspercreme a try. I just found out that my recently retired neighbor is a certified acupuncturist, too, and I'm going to give acupuncture a try. Will let you know results....

I recommend the roller-ball version. It goes on more smoothly and in a thinner layer so it dries more quickly and you use less. Plus, Mine's on my back-to-front so it's really hard to put the lotion on, but I can reach it with the roller-ball.

thanks! Mine is also on my back/shoulder blade. The roller version should work best for me, too.
