Treatment I can drink with and go in the sun?

I've been diagnosed with rosacea and I've been prescribed antibiotics but the leaflet says no alcohol and no bright sunlight, which is impossible because I work in a nursery!! Also I'm going on holiday the beginning of June to Spain and I do like a drink (weekends, not every day btw!!!)
has anyone been prescribed anything that I can ask for that will allow me to do the above. Thanks!!!!!

The reason for no bright sunlight is because Doxycycline causes the skin to be more sensitive which could result in sun damage to the skin on any part that is exposed. If your work entails being out in sunlight you would be best to cover up with long sleeves etc. When you're away on holiday use a really high factor sun cream and try and stay out of the sun when it is the hottest part of the day. Having rosacea means that you should keep your face out the sun anyway so it's a good idea to apply sunscreen at all times and also to invest in a hat or two - luckily they are very much in fashion this year. There are
alternative antibiotics you could ask your GP for but generally the tetracyclines tend to be the most effective for Rosacea from what I've read and as far as I know they all come with the risk of skin damage if exposed to bright sunlight.
I appreciate that it's hard making all these sacrifices - I love the sun and heat and having been diagnosed last Autumn I am having to learn to adjust, particularly now the warmer weather is coming but I'm trying to be sensible as I don't want a repeat of the last few months now that things have improved.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy your holiday

Not took the tabs for a week as I had a busy social weekend, christening etc..so I wanted to drink.... And lol and behold I've got a spotty nose!!
Im not keen on taking any tablets long term but realise that I'm lucky it's 'only' this condition so I'm trying to be positive. I've only got it pretty mildly (so far and all fingers crossed) so will just see how it goes.
