    Yoga, swimming, thai chi, walking are all good for AS. Make sure you do something every day.

    Most people with ankylosing spondylitis find that regular exercise reduces pain and stiffness. The methods recommended above are particularly good for increasing strength without stressing joints. You also need to rest when feeling ill but keep up the exercise. Lying in bed or remaining in a chair gives you the bent back which people associate with ankylosing spondylitis. You need strong muscles to keep your back straight and support weak joints.
