Has anyone on here used capsasin cream/ointment? I have been dealing with severe itching since December 2012 after clearing a c-diff infection.  I have tried all kinds of creams, powders to no avail.  My doctor now has me using a 0.0006% compound of capsasin in white parafin.  This burns like nothing else I have used before because of the capsasin.  I have been using this for 2 weeks now, 3 times a day with no real relief and I am wondering if anyone else has used this and if so, how long did it take for it to work?  I am quickly loosing hope and anal tattooing is my next and last resort.

I tried everything including various ways of using capsasin . I think you may be over medicating . Stop using all applications of creams etc. (Keep ice packs available for reducing the sleepless nights) Clean with witch hazel after bowel movements and avoid using anything for instant relief other than witch hazel using cotton pads .  Once you have broken the cycle of medicating and the irritation that creams etc. cause everthing starts to get better. For me after stopping all medications and using ice packs for night time relief and not going any where without witch hazel, I found myself not needing the ice packs as much, not using witch hazel for more than cleaning after a bowel movement and then without realising  the itching just happens now and again  instead of dominating every minute day or night.  I know how desperate you can get when the itching just takes over everything. Give it a try, it's not easy , giving up medication is like giving up smoking, drugs or drinking ...........worth it in the end................good luck........

Didn't work for me either. What finally got mine under control was cleansing with a product called Balneol (or here in the States a less expensive product, Eucerin Skin Calming Itch Relief Treatment) followed by a moisture barrier of Calmosephine. That, together with nightly irrigation (external only) during my shower worked for me. Although my advice came from a colorectal surgeon, if you will review the forum you will see that various people have got got relief in other ways.  None of these appear to be prohibitably expensive so don't be afraid to try them out to find the one that works best for you.  Good luck!

I received your message the other day, I have heard of the cream in which you are using, however I did not get that particular one.  My daughter was diagnosed with puritus ani 2 years ago.  She has been very miserable, I found this website and chatted with an individual who tried a cream called Calmoseptime,,,she has been using it especially during menstruation and it seems to help the most..Nothing is actually stopped the itchi entirely , but this slows it down and cools the skin.  The ingredients are amazing and stops the itch for a while.  I did also get Balneol which is sold at Walgreens, very expensive for a little bottle but it works at first, then it seemed to not work anymore.  I also ordered Mentanium which is for nappy rash ointment which others told me was the miracle cream, so we have that which she has not tried yet.... Sudocrem another amazing cream that we just received in the mail from amazon....none of these items are available in small towns,  I have had to order everything online.  Sudocrem is an aniseptic healing cream....I have noticed the consistency with creams used and who is referring me to these creams.  Lots of patients that suffer incontinence, feeding tube infections and sores are what this stuff is good for...the itch is just another avenue that this cream helps wth.  She has had relief with the calmoseptine and I use it for razor burn and my son uses it for sweat burns between his legs and groin area, its' safe for anyone given you have no alergys to the ingredients, so check those out on line before you purchase

Good luck to you, keep searching and never give up!!

Oh, Puriton alergy pills work too, we have not tried them, but it took 2 months to receive them from china and so far we haven't had to try them.  But it's nice to have yet another possible solution to her problem if the others fail....keep looking and talking to people...there are great ones on this site!!
