Trigger finger problem

I have been diagnosed to have trigger finger of the middle finger on my left hand - this took months as doctors firstly treated me for gout, then rhuematoid arthistis then osteo arthritis with various bloood test and x-ray (all done seperately!) - and being told to \"live with it\" before I demanded and was \"allowed\" to be referred to a specialist who said after 20 seconds of meeting me this is trigger finger. i am shceduled to have an operation to relieve the tendon in 3 weeks, but today my finger and some of the other fingers are so swollen I just dont know what to do because of the pain. Ice & Ibrprofen doesnt appear to shift it. I dont know if this is a sympton of trigger finger when the nerve gets into such a position that it stops the flow of blood and would appreciate any light or help that anyone can suggest?

    Hi there,

Have you had your surgery? How did it go? I have almost the same condition you did, my middle finger, left hand has been diagnosed as trigger finger and I am schedulled for surgery in two more weeks.

I would like to know if your surgery was painful, if your surgery was successful and how long did it take you to move your finger again.

I will write back when mine is over.

SO I WAS IMPRESSED.IAM NOT A LOVER OF STEROIDS,BUT IWOULD LIKE TO GO FOR SURGERY

I think I had a problem with this last week. My hands were very cold at the time, and my middle finger right hand just would not unclench after I had gripped my purse quite hard. It has happened once or twice before, but always loosened itself before it became too much of a problem. This time it was about an hour and a half. It was the strangest feeling, as if it didn`t belong to me at all, and I could feel the tight tendon (nerve?)running right down my palm towards the wrist. Is this the same thing? Someone told me it was a symptom of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, but I get no pins and needles and my circulation seems Ok generally. I do suffer with Osteoarthritis which only became a problem just over a year ago.

@ Alan..., oh dear, what a shame you got the injection in the wrong finger ! Just as well you didn`t go in for the surgery!
