Hi all

Discovered a new trigger a short while ago, was watching a short video clip which had a close up of somebody then all sudden the camera spun round very quick which made me feel a bit light headed like it was me in the clip then within 20 seconds the whole room span n fortunately I was sitting down and lasted for about a minute, I’ve had md for bout 8yrs and 1st time this has happened has this affected anyone else in this way thanks

    I haven’t had that, but I start spinning when I have large snow flakes coming down and when I’m in crowds are huge triggers for me.

    Hi Dadlew.  This is a common reaction especially for folks who have bilateral MD.  Vestibular Balance is mostly determined by three senses sending signals to the brain....both inner ears and the eyes.  Since MD folks have at least one defective inner ear, that means our eyes must assume a greater influence on what the brain receives.  So it makes sense that if the eyes are seeing exceptionally quick movements (on a screen or live) the eyes then send signals to the brain that something is not right or that we are falling, etc.  And since there is only one inner ear to send normal signals that really everything is ok, the eye signals often win and the brain gets confused with the mixed signals and that is what causes vertigo...

      Yes that does make complete sense what you’ve said, also forgot to mention I had a grommet fitted 1 week ago and seems a coincidence that this has happened for the first time since I’ve had md could there be a connection? Something I shall discuss with my consultant when I have my grommet follow up appointment

    Yes i have felt dizziness when watching spinning movement. also for me walking into a dark room along with sodium, caffeine and stress big triggers for me.

      Hi

      Yea I have all the normal triggers this is just a new one to me, also I had a grommet fitted a week ago and now wondering if this has now caused this new trigger for me will have to discuss with my consultant when I have the grommet follow up appointment

      I even find when Im at a restaurant and it is crowded that I feel light headed and dizzy, people never understand it, but all of us with MD do.

    I also had a episode for the first time in a while playing slot games on my phone. Watching the reels spin. Had to immediately stop game.

    Another trigger found today!  Standing in water at the Lake.  Boy did I get disoriented.
