I have experienced a nasty trimalleolar ankle fracture with dislocated talus and the accompanying ruptured ligaments and tendons. I have some decent sized fractures. I have had ORIF with three plates, twenty screws and a rod. How long should I expect to be in a cast for?

until your doctor gives you a go to remove the cast. ask your doctor how long. he can xray thru the cast to check the heeling rate.
so sorry this happened . ankles are so complicated and lots of little bones and tendons to heel.

I also had a nasty trimalleolar ankle fracture in December. I also had ORIF with two plates and 15 screws. The X rays showed that I had shattered the ankle. Its been six months and I am just starting to walk with pain. I go to PT twice week, but I am nowhere near back to the functionality prior to accident. I am 62 years of age and my healing process is extremely slow.
