Hi everyone

Im 6 weeks on after orif surgery for a trimelleor ankle fracture and fractured tibia which has had a titanium rod put down the centre. Im still non weight bearing and in a cast At the minuet i have no pain unless i stand up and my leg swells instantly causing some discomfort. Ive had a look at few threads on here and it looks like im in for a long painfull haul. Anyway has anyone had a similar injury and any advice on things to do or not to do to improve healing im a self employed builder and cant afford to spend months not at work its a no work no pay situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

well john , i had the same injury july 21,17. broken ankle , dislocated ,a long stainless steel rod , with seven other screws. its a long process bro, all you can do is rest and allow the ankle to heal properly. the ankle will need physical therapy , which you should be doing now to work on your range of motion. the doctor depending on your xrays will allow partial weight bearing in another 3-4 weeks. its along process but you will recover and get back to normal activities but your going to have to work to get there, i'm back work , excercing with any ankle problems at all.
