Trimethroprim problems

given this for recurrent uti.  Also given estrogen, meant to help bladder in seniors. Have anxiety anyway.  Middle of night woke feeling people chatting in brain but nobody there.  Is it the meds causing this mixed with my diazepam?

That had to be so scary.  I am so sorry, Ann.  When I googled, these two drugs are listed online as having moderate interactions.  I would definitely call your doctor asap if you continue to have increase in anxiety.  For UTIs, it always helps me to drink plenty of warm water with lemon, like 2 quarts per day, load up on Vitamin C (there is a bulk powder online Ascorbic acid that you can put in juice or diet drinks).  Your gut flora can also get out of balance and cause recurring UTI.  For that, I eat raw organic sauerkraut 2-3 times a week or take a probiotic with Lactobacillus--this strain is very important for UTI.  I eliminate ALL sugar and caffeine.  My physical therapist also taught me muscle exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor that really helped.   Bless you!  I hope this helps and you feel better soon!

Thank you for the advice.  Yes i think the interaction between these two drugs is not good.  I stopped the trimethroprim for a day and it didnt happen again so its clear thats the problem.  I have nausea each day with this drug so will ask for a change.  Meanwhile i cannot take all,the good things you suggest as i take warfarin and quite a few are banned, i e saurkraut. I have already got rid of caffeine and sugar.  Probiotic im not sure, will ask anticoagulant cinic, it wont upset my tummy will it?

Oh friend, it sounds like you have a lot you are dealing with.  I am so sorry you are suffering.  I think it might be a great idea to talk to a nutritionist who could help you work with healing foods that could possibly greatly improve some of your symptoms.  Also, a functional medicine doctor looks at you as a whole person and pinpoints vitamin deficiencies in your bloodwork.  That may be worth a shot to try also.  I have never had a probiotic make me sick or nauseated.  They have actually curbed nausea and indigestion but each person is different.  Your doctor's office may even work with a nutritionist.  It is worth a shot.

I pray you find relief soon.  I am so glad you recognized that drug interaction was bad for you.  I am so scared at the number of people I hear of who were given drugs by the same doctor that are dangerous to be mixed, then even the pharmacists missed it.  We have to double check everything.  Research any drug and side effects before we take anything.   Blessings and best!
